Scavenger Hunt

With a Sixties Queen

I'm back in the land of Aus but I’m not the same person I was when I left.

I had setbacks and delays before our holiday and now I know why. Timing is everything. Everything.

I had no choice but to sit back and let the delays shape our days. And I am so glad I did.

It meant that I got the unexpected delight of celebrating my 60th birthday with my family overseas. I was treated like a Sixties Queen!

It changed my perspective and segued me into my 60th era with confidence and flair.

My sister, brother-in-law, and mom get all the credit for creating an extraordinary birthday celebration for me!

My actual celebration at home was spectacular too. After four decades together, my husband never ceases to amaze me. He organised a Scavenger Hunt for the entirety of my birthday day, without any assistance.

These were just some of the clues:

- After your husband, your second love

I confess my first answer was coffee. Then chocolate. Then, dear reader, I remembered my children! But, alas, I was not the only one omitting them as my second love, because in fact, the answer was BOOKS!

The bookstore in question? Brush Turkey Books where I met up with the owner whom I'd known from previous volunteering work. Small world. I'm reluctant to tell you which book I purchased because of the controversy surrounding it. But, most of you will know that the moors of England have a special place in my heart, specifically Southwest England's Exmoor. So, it is with some trepidation that I confess to you that the book I bought was The Salt Path, purely because I am dead keen to walk the Southwest Coast Path myself one day - when I get to live there!

- Almost all fish have this

This clue I had to share with you because I shouted out the answer so loudly that my husband actually lifted off his seat with fright! I hadn't got all of the previous answers right so I was overly excited when I got this one. It was the name of the restaurant he'd booked for birthday dinner, The Dorsal. And it was divine.

- You have this in abundance

I'm sharing this clue with you because, dear reader, like I said, after four decades together, my husband still melts my heart. The answer to this one was 'sweetness' which I didn't guess. It was a birthday cake he'd bought for dessert back home after our dinner. He even remembered my favourite; caramel!

Ladies and gentlemen, find yourself someone who still melts your heart decades later.

The end.

Your ever loving romantic.

Quick reminder that En Route Affirmations is still reduced to cost price while I'm celebrating my 60th. The big birthday finale will be in early July, so the book offer ends then too.

Because, finding your life partner means finding yourself first, and that you can do, at this link:

En Route Affirmations: It's time to back yourself

I’d love to offer free monthly DM chats with these affirmations, nothing confronting, just bouncing ideas for a bit of self-love sass!

Email me if you’d love a monthly DM chat using the affirmations from this book: elora.canne@gmail.com - subject heading: Self-Love Sass

Next time, I'll be revealing the cover of the third and final book in A Midlife Romcom Series, Friendship & Fun (and romance undone). As always, Amber Grosjean has worked her magic and I am thrilled!
